It started with us meeting our team, young people from Macedonia, Netherlands, London, Barnsley and Rotherham. 21 young people all with a different perspectives, values and energy. Within the first session it was clear this course was going to be special, bonds formed very quickly and participants pushed themselves very hard, it was obvious they wanted to maximise the learning from this experience

This event was like no other we have run as we introduced a number of very large scale team activities, from a businesses and enterprise day with 70 students from Lambeth Academy through to creating and running a TV station from scratch. We deliberately aimed for this course to be ambitious because we new how much the group would get from the experiences if it was successful.

Lambeth Academy gives international Momentum to Young Entrepreneurs

Young people from Lambeth Academy will get the chance to show off their business and marketing skills when the school plays host to an exciting new enterprise challenge. On Monday 19 July, over 50 students will spend the day planning and running their own businesses, with the aim of turning in a real-life profit by the end of the day.

The event is being run in partnership with Momentum Youth Development, a Lambeth-based social enterprise which promotes international projects for young people. The trainers on the challenge day will themselves be young people from England, Holland and Macedonia who are participants on Momentum’s international youth leadership programme. The programme is sponsored by the EU Youth in Action fund and the Big Lottery Awards for All England.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity from Momentum, we have received some external funding enabling us to run a powerful and innovative Leadership programme.

Are you ready to become a leader?

We are looking for 30 young people who want to make a difference to society, a team that will go away from this programme and do something worthwhile with the knowledge they have gained

Do you want to set a example to other young people?
We are looking for young people who can be looked up to as positive role models, who will challenge and question and more importantly set a good example with the way they approach life.

Could you help other young people to develop themselves?

We are looking for young people who have taken on mentor projects at school or who are good at helping others. We want to bring a team of like minded people together who have a spark, we will then push you to the limit of your skills and help you unpick what makes you a good leader.

Have you got something to say?

Everyone has something to say - what is more important is whether you have something worth listening to. If you have why not bring your voice to this project and let us hear it. We want a team of young people who will go on and promote and advocate the important messages which will lead to more young people being taken seriously.

Do you care about the place of young people in society?

How many times have you felt ignored? Marginalised and undervalued, this a common feedback shared by lots of young people. One of the aims of this leadership course is to address this so that young people do play a more central role in decision making.

On this course you will :

• Experience one of the most dynamic intensive and fun residential programmes ever

• Meet some inspirational young leaders
• Visit some of London’s most successful youth projects

• Aged 18-21
• Able to communicate well in English
• Energetic and ready for a challenge

We particularly want to hear from young people who have not had much leadership / international experience but who feel ready for it
